An IRA adoption agreement and a plan document are a contract between the owner of an IRA and the financial institution with which the account is kept. The IRA adoption agreement and plan document must be signed by the account holder before the individual pension account (IRA) can be valid. It contains basic personal information about the account holder, such as address, date of birth and social security number, and sets out the detailed rules for the pension account. An account holder should enter into an IRA adoption agreement for traditional and Roth IRAs, as well as for education and savings accounts and health savings accounts (HSAs). Such an agreement is also concluded for qualified plans, simple IRAs, IRAs sep and a large number of employer-funded pension plans.
